A legendary collection of intertwined series of stories, Panchatantra is the oldest written Indian tales (mostly animal fables) that profess moral values. Penned originally in Sanskrit, it has been translated over the years into numerous other languages. Derived from the amalgamation of the terms 'Panch' (five) and Tantra (Practice), they depict five practices of human life i.e. Gain, Loss, Union, Separation and Discord. Etched in the simplest manner with each story rendering a life lesson, it has stood the test of time. While commonly targeted for children, it is a rich source of learning for all age groups.
